2006-2. Monks and Ethnic people of Laos

I spent two weeks during the summer, visiting the beautiful ancient city of Luang Prabang, situated on the Mekong River in Laos. I took many photographs of orange clad Buddhist monks and novices who occupy the 32 active temples and was able to visit several monasteries and schools. In addition, I toured a few villages occupied by the two important ethnic groups in Laos - the Hmongs and the Khmus - whose images are included in this gallery. This trip also included a short visit to Mae Hong Son - a lovely city in the hills of Northern Thailand where I photographed villages and refugee camps for the Karen people (long necked tribe) who have migrated from the atrocities in neighboring Burma.
